Strained relations with China cannot be normal until peace is restored on the Ladakh border !
National Security Adviser Ajit Doval rebukes China !
Johannesburg (South Africa) – A meeting of National Security Advisers of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) countries was held in Johannesburg. On this occasion, there was a discussion between India’s NSA Ajit Doval and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. At this time, Doval told Wang Yi that ‘the current situation on the Line of Actual Control has deteriorated mutual trust. Unless peace is restored in the Ladakh sector along the Line of Actual Control, our relations cannot be normalised’. Doval also asserted the need to increase mutual trust between the two parties. Along with this, he also said that ‘these countries should follow the path of development by strengthening and stabilising the relations among themselves as soon as possible’. The relationship between China and India is said to be at its worst in the past 6 decades due to border disputes. The situation on the border has been tense since the clash between Chinese and Indian soldiers in the Galwan Valley.
On 14th July, Wang Yi met India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar during the meeting of ASEAN countries in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Doval further said, ‘Since 2020, the situation on the western side of the Line of Actual Control has eroded the trust and relationship between India and China at the public and political level. Efforts should be made to resolve this situation and create peace on the border. This will lead to overcoming the hurdles existing in the normalisation of bilateral relations. The relationship between India and China is important not only for both countries, but for the entire world’.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China also said, ‘We have conveyed to the National Security Adviser of India Ajit Doval that policies should be decided which will build mutual trust among us, and we should pay attention to mutual cooperation. Both countries should follow the decisions laid down by their respective heads of State. This will make it clear that China and India are creating development opportunities for each other rather than a crisis. China, along with India, is prepared to support developing countries in moving the international system in a more just direction’.
