SC takes suo motu cognisance, orders Govt to act soon or Court will take the action : Manipur case
The Supreme Court warns the Union and the State Govt

New Delhi – The Supreme Court directed the Union Government and the State Government to come forward and take action in the case of women paraded naked in Manipur. It further observed, “We will give some time to the Government to act, otherwise we will take the action. We are deeply disturbed by yesterday’s video. We are concerned about this”. The next hearing on this matter will be held on the 21st July.
The SC observed, “The Government should inform the Court about the steps taken by to book the perpetrators such crime. Using women as instruments in perpetrating violence is a gross violation of human rights and it is against the constitutional democracy”.
