Dress code implemented in ancient temples of Rajasthan

Includes the popular Brahma temple of Pushkar

Jaipur (Rajasthan) – A dress code has been implemented for devotees visiting the ancient temples in different districts of Rajasthan; including Jaipur, Udaipur and Ajmer. Banners and posters related to this have been put up in the temples. These posters mention, ‘Do not enter the temple wearing half pant, bermuda, mini skirt, night suit, torn jeans, frock.’

Dress code has been applied in the Mahadev Mandir in Jaipur, Charbhuja Nath Mandir in Bhilwara, Shri Pavapuri Jain Mandir and Sarneshwar Mahadev Mandir in Sirohi district, Brahma Mandir in Pushkar, Shri Ambe Mata Mandir in Ajmer, Shri Jagdish Mandir in Udaipur.

A temple is not a place of tourist attraction – Temple Management Board

Most Temple Management Boards said in regard to a dress code being imposed in the temples in the State that a temple is not a place of tourist attraction. Devotees visiting temples should wear traditional clothes. A temple is a place of faith; everyone’s faith is associated with it. Hence, it is necessary to take care of such things. This is being done so that people should adopt Indian culture and not a foreign one.
