If Uniform Civil Code is against Sharia law, then Muslims will not accept : Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind
Deoband (UP) – Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, a Muslim organisation has said that UCC is against our religion and we will send our views about it to the Law Commission of India. The Commission should call responsible people of all religions and discuss with them. Any law contrary to Sharia law is unacceptable to Muslims. Muslims can tolerate everything, but they cannot go against Sharia. UCC poses a threat to the country’s unity.
The Jamiat further stated that the UCC takes away religious rights enshrined in the Constitution. Our Personal Laws are based on the Quran and cannot be changed until doomsday.
Earlier, Jamiat Chief Maulana Arshad Madani urged people not to take to the streets against the UCC.
Editorial viewpoint
The Government should now ensure that UCC will be passed in the Parliament and will be accepted by all. |
