30 minutes of namaz does not cause any harm : Madras High Court
Madras High Court dismissed a petition to ban namaz on the road leading to a Temple
Chennai – Madras High Court has refused to stay the namaz offer on the Nellithopu road leading to the Kashi Vishwanath temple near the Thiruparankundram hill in Madurai. The Court observed that ‘no one loses anything by 30 minutes of namaz, and it does not affect anyone’. It directed the HRCE department to file a detailed report on the matter in 4 weeks.
‘Akhil Bharat Hanuman Sena’ State secretary Ramalingam filed the case. In this petition Ramalingam has said, the devotees that go to Kashi Vishwanath temple near the Thiruparankundram hill take rest and food at Nellithopu. At that time the people of the Sikander Badhusha Dharga offer namaz there. These people otherwise offer namaz in the Pallivasal mosque. They have never offered namaz at Nellithopu before. They have another place to offer namaz. They are doing this to cause nuisance. After the namaz they have the left a lot of plastic refuse that is causing pollution. The people of the Jamat claim that the Thiruparankundram hill where Sri Subramanya Swamy temple is located is ‘Sikander Hill’. In this way they are trying to encroach on the land and cause a law-and-order situation here.
