It is necessary to raise the standard of education in India – Anil Dhir, Convener, Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage, Bhubaneswar, Odisha
Ramnath Devasthan – When India had a Guru-shishya tradition, India was the Vishwaguru. Numerous books were written during that time. Students used to flock here to learn. Now the opposite is happening. 8 lakh 80 thousand children of India are studying abroad and will eventually settle there. Therefore, it is necessary for India to make efforts to raise the standard of the education system, said Mr Anil Dhir, Convener of Odisha Chapter of Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage, He was speaking on Day 5 (20.6.2023) of the Vaishvik Hindu Rashtra Mahotsav.
Mr Dhir said, “There are 62 tribes in Odisha. We collected 30 thousand manuscripts from the forest dwellers and sent them to the Odisha State Museum. These manuscripts did not have verses, instead they had practical and detailed knowledge on constructing aeroplanes, temples etc. This shows the quality of literature a few thousand years ago. These tribes do not have a script of their own, so the knowledge gets passed through generations from father to son. If these tribal children get access to better education, India will progress. So the government needs to open special schools for them.
Mr Anil Dhir, a devout Hindu from Odisha, attended the Vaishvik Hindu Rashtra Mahotsav even though the world famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath was on the 20th of June, 2023.
