The Mahapanchayat in Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand) opposing ‘Love Jihad’ deferred

A result of the administration imposing prohibitory orders under Section 144

Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand) – The Mahapanchayat opposing ‘Love Jihad’ which was to be held in the Purola locality of Uttarkashi on 15th June has been indefinitely postponed. This decision is a result of the administration imposing prohibitory orders in the locality. The Police started detaining the organisers and those associated with the event even before the Mahapanchayat.

This Mahapanchayat was going to make demands such as a strict law against Love Jihad, a strict land law on the lines of Himachal Pradesh, prohibit any person hiding identity from working in the State, dissolution of the Waqf Board and establishment of a Sanatan Board.

Swami Darshan Bharti, organiser of Mahapanchayat has been threatened with beheading by a religious fanatic Muslim. Swami Darshan Bharti is the founder of ‘Devbhoomi Raksha Abhiyan’. After this threat, he has been given Police protection. A poster in this regard has been sent to him by religious fanatics. A person named Musharrate Inquilab has said, ‘Your Mahapanchayat in Purola, Uttarkashi should not happen. If saffron terrorists from RSS and BJP harm anyone among us then you will be beheaded. And Ghazwa-e-Hind (destruction of India) will commence from Uttarakhand.’ It is also mentioned in the poster whoever finally carries out the beheading will be given Rs 5 crore.
