‘Azaan’ by a teacher in a Mumbai school !

Mumbai – On 16th June 2023, a teacher from ‘Kapol Vidyanidhi International School’ in Kandivali, Mumbai played ‘Azaan’ on loudspeaker after the school prayers. On learning about the incident, a complaint was lodged with the local Police station by Shiv Sena, along with a demand to file a case in this regard and avoid similar incidents in the future. Shiv Sena and the parents of the students have accused the school of playing ‘Azaan’ deliberately, and not exposing the incident since the teacher was a Muslim.

On Shiv Sena’s opposition, the school management informed about suspending the teacher from duty but has also explained that prayers of all religions were played in the school for children’s knowledge, and ‘Azaan’ was played that day. (What is the need for students to know about prayers of other religions when the majority of students are Hindus in this school ? – Editor)

The secularists, who make so much noise about teaching Bhagawadgeeta under the school curriculum, as a ‘saffronisation’ of education, are keeping mum now or do they feel listening to ‘Azaan’ is a sign of secularism ?
