Mahapanchayat organised by Muslims in Uttarakhand
Case of Muslim shopkeepers threatened to vacate their shops as a protest against ‘Love Jihad’
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) – Posters have been put up in the Purola area of Uttarkashi town in Uttarakhand state, asking Muslim shopkeepers to vacate their shops by 15th June. Several Muslim shopkeepers have started closing their shops due to this. As a result of this, Muslims have organised a Mahapanchayat at Dehradun on 18th June.
Deputy Superintendent of Uttarkashi, Surendra Singh Bhandari, has denied the reports that Muslim shopkeepers are closing their shops. ‘If anyone has closed the shop and left, it is due to personal reasons’, he said. Local Hindus have denied that shopkeepers were threatened to vacate their shops. They said ‘Muslims are vacating their shops on their own’.
