Religious conversion of Hindus on a large scale in Bengal : NCBC

Hansraj Ahir, Chairperson of National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC)
New Delhi – Hansraj Ahir, Chairperson of National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) has said that Hindus from many castes under Other Backward Classes (OBC) in West Bengal have been converted to Islam on a large scale. Also, Bangladeshi and Rohingya Muslim intruders are taking benefit of all the Government facilities given to the OBC.
Hansraj Ahir informed Press reporters that a team sent by the Commission had visited Bengal on 25th February this year. A report was received from a cultural organisation of Bengal called, ‘Cultural Research Institute’. The report stated, ‘Information has been received about Hindus having converted to Islam on a large scale’. The OBC list in Bengal includes Bangladeshi Muslims. All considered, the list includes those who are not OBC. The Commission has received several complaints and an enquiry into the matter has revealed that many in the list are Bangladeshis. Moreover, Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar have also been included in this list.
Ahir further told that there were more Muslim castes than Hindu in the State OBC list, when the absolute population of Hindus in the State is clearly higher. This State list has 179 castes mentioned out of which 118 are Muslim castes whereas only 61 are Hindu castes. Bengal Government has clearly tampered with the State OBC list. Category ‘A’ of the list has 90% Muslims. In addition, more than half in category ‘B’ are Muslims. When asked about this, the Government responded that many of those in the list were previously Hindus.

Ahir said that the Bengal Government has sent a proposal to the NCBC to include the Qureshi Muslim caste in the central list of OBC. Yet, Bengal Government itself does not give any different status to this caste as Qureshi Muslims are not included in the State OBC list.
Editorial Viewpoints
How can there be more Muslim castes in the Bengal OBC list, when it is a Hindu majority State ? Now, where are all those who say, ‘There are no castes in any religion other than Hinduism’ ? It is to be noted that there will not be any surprise if in the future, Bengal becomes a Muslim majority State ! The Trinamool Congress Government should firstly be dissolved to protect the Hindus in Bengal. |
