Vatican City – Pope Francis recently warned missionary fundraisers at the Vatican not to allow financial corruption in their work. The Pope was speaking to the Directors of the Vatican’s Pontifical Mission Societies, which raise funds for the Church’s missionary work in developing countries.
According to Pope Francis, if missionary work lacks spirituality, it is only about entrepreneurship, and as a result, corruption immediately flourishes. Even today, newspapers report corruption in the Church. The Vatican has already called for transparency about Church staff transfers in the US.
