More than 70,000 Christians imprisoned in North Korea

Pyongyang (North Korea) – According to report on Religious Freedom by the US State Department, citizens in North Korea are being sentenced to life imprisonment or to death for possessing the Bible. In 2022, more than 70,000 Christians were imprisoned in North Korea. According to this report, an entire Christian family in North Korea has been sentenced to life imprisonment just for practicing their religion and possessing the Bible. Even a two-year-old child in the family is not spared . This case belongs to the year 2009.

In North Korea, 50% of citizens are atheists, 25% are Buddhists, and the remaining 25% are Christians and from other religions. North Korea is a communist country, hence, it is known as the ‘Country of Atheists’.
