ATS arrests DRDO’s scientist from Pune for providing sensitive information to Pakistan
Suspected to have provided information to Pakistan after falling into honeytrap
Pune (Maharashtra) – The ATS has arrested the Director of DRDO, Dr Pradeep Kurulkar, a scientist, for suspected leakage of confidential information to Pakistan after falling into honeytrap. Honeytrap is a technique used by a country using women, to get confidential information from the enemy country, by luring men holding important positions. Pakistan often uses honeytrap to get confidential information about India’s Defence.

1. The ATS registered a crime against Dr Pradeep Kurulkar in Mumbai. Further investigation will be carried out by the Pune Police. ATS has started an investigation on the confidential information that was shared by Dr Kurulkar with Pakistan.
2. Dr Kurulkar works in the ‘Research and Development Establishment (Engineers)’ department. India’s intelligence agencies had received information in February that Dr Kurulkar had fallen in the honeytrap and was in contact with Pakistani intelligence agencies through video chat and other social media.
3. This information was given to the DRDO. DRDO’s ‘Vigilance Department’ investigated the case and prepared a report. The copies of this report were shared with different investigation agencies of India. The Maharashtra ATS investigated the matter as per the report received and arrested Dr Kurulkar. Dr Kurulkar was to retire this year in November.
