Islamabad (Pakistan) – The anti-terrorist Court of Pakistan granted bail to the Chinese citizen arrested for blasphemy after he furnished a bond of Pak Rs 2,00,000 as surety. He was later taken to an undisclosed location. Quoting from the section pertaining to blasphemy, the judge ruled that the case did not come within the ambit of “reasonable ground” as the blasphemy charge was the “result of a misunderstanding”. He said the police station concerned in Kohistan had registered a “false case” against the Chinese national. The Court ruled that, according to the record, no such offence was committed by the accused and hence he was granted bail, the Dawn newspaper reported.

The Pakistani Police have filed similar false cases against minority Hindus and imprisoned them. The Pakistani Courts should conduct an inquiry into these cases as well. |
