Shambhudurg Pratishthan warns to stage agitation, Police pressurising devout Hindus !
Case of appointment of Christian as a supervisor of Vajreshwari Temple at Bhiwandi
Thane (Maharashtra) – Francis Joseph Lemos, a Christian, was appointed as the supervisor of the historic Shri Vajreshwari Yoginidevi Sansthan at Bhiwandi. Shambhudurg Pratishthan issued a warning of strong agitation if this appointment was not immediately rolled back; however, the Police are trying to put pressure on the Hindus by citing that it will create an atmosphere of communal tension.
Shambhudurg Pratishthan has issued a warning to Vajreshwari Devasthan that ‘if the decision to appoint Francis Joseph Lemos as supervisor is not revoked by 15th April, we will protest in the temple premises on 23rd April’. Shambudurg Pratishthan has sent a letter to Devasthan regarding this. Francis Joseph Lemos has been entrusted with the responsibility of receiving and entertaining donors, dignitaries, and Government officials coming to the temple, doing legal work, inspecting the lands belonging to the temple, and assisting the temple managers.

Appointing a Christian person as the supervisor of the temple, is a new religious crisis ! – Shambhudurg Pratishthan
In a letter written to the Vajreshwari Devasthan, the Shambhudurg Pratishthan said, ‘In Thane District, Christian missionaries have established places of worship in tribal settlements and increased contact with the people. It has been found that the Hindu brothers who come in contact with them stop following Hinduism gradually, some people even renounce Hinduism. Many devout Hindu organisations are trying to prevent the conversion of Hindus by Christian missionaries. In such a situation, appointing a Christian person as the supervisor of the Vajreshwari temple is a decision that will bring more trouble to Hinduism’.
If there is public outrage, Francis’ appointment will be revoked ! : Advocate Patkar, Trustee, Shri Vajreshwari Yoginidevi SansthanFrancis Joseph Lemos has been selling laddoos outside the temple for the past 30 years. If there is a public outrage against his appointment, we will revoke it, but it will not be right to do so. The trustees have not yet discussed this. The decision to revoke his appointment will have to be taken in the meeting of the trustees, said Advocate Patkar, president of Vajreshwari Devasthan, while talking to the correspondent of the daily Sanatan Prabhat. |
Don’t get into this, Police warn activists on callThe Police called some workers of Shambhudurg Pratishthan and told them not to get into this case. (Should this be considered a threat by the Police ? Would the Police have had the courage to tell such a thing to people of other religions ? – Editor) |
