In another crackdown on anti-India propaganda outlets, BBC Punjabi News Twitter Account withheld
Hinduphobic and anti-India BBC must be permanently banned in India now !
New Delhi – In yet another crackdown on anti-India propaganda outlets, the Twitter account of ‘BBC News Punjabi’ (@bbcnewspunjabi) was withheld in India. On visiting the said Twitter profile, it returned the following message – @bbcnewspunjabi’s account has been withheld in India in response to a legal demand.
However, the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) is said to have conveyed to the BBC that it had not issued any instruction to block BBC Punjabi’s handle. The Government communicated the BBC’s grievance to Twitter too, a source said. It appears that the handle was reported en masse by Twitter users, which resulted in the suspension.

In January this year, the Indian Government blocked the BBC’s contentious documentary about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Gujarat riots of 2002.
Earlier on 19th March 2023, pro-Khalistan MP from Sangrur and Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) Chief Simranjit Singh Mann’s Twitter account was withheld in India in response to a legal demand.
A day later, the Twitter account of Canadian lawmaker Jagmeet Singh was withheld in India. The development came days after the Punjab Police launched a manhunt to nab pro-Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh and his aides. The ‘withheld’ accounts were actively fear-mongering and giving a false impression of the Punjab Police action to the world.
