On the Karnataka Government’s decision, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, “There is no law in the Constitution to give reservation based on religion”. Regarding this, D.K. Shivakumar, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President, has claimed that Government’s decision is unconstitutional. Shivakumar also said, “The BJP Government thinks that reservation can be distributed like a property. But reservation is not a property but a right. We do not think that the 4% reservation for minorities should be abolished and given to the major communities. The minorities are our brothers and family members”.
