PTI’s Indian journalist physically assaulted by Khalistanis
Washington DC (USA) – Journalist Lalit Jha of Press Trust of India (PTI), who was covering the protest by Khalistanis outside the Indian Embassy informed in a tweet that he was physically assaulted by Khalistanis. He released a video in which 2 Khalistani supporters are seen abusing him.
Jha said, “Khalistan supporters hit my left ear with two sticks. This incident reminded me of the 11th September 2001 terrorist attack in the US. I panicked and ran towards the Police van.” In the tweet, he thanked the Police and said, ‘You saved me, otherwise I would have been writing this message from the hospital’. Jha has decided not to file charges against the attackers.
Thank you @SecretService 4 my protection 2day 4 helping do my job, otherwise I would have been writing this from hospital. The gentleman below hit my left ear with these 2 sticks & earlier I had to call 9/11 & rushed 2 police van 4 safety fearing physical assault👇. pic.twitter.com/IVcCeP5BPG

In this regard, the Indian Embassy in Washington said, “We have seen the video of mistreatment of Press Trust of India’s senior Journalist who was covering Khalistani protest in Washington DC. We understand that the journalist was first abused and then physically assaulted. Law enforcement had to be called for his safety. We condemn the attack on the journalist. Such activities reflect the violent and anti-social mindset of the so-called Khalistani supporters, who regularly indulge in violence and vandalism.”
You kill minorities – Khalistani supporter
Khalistani protesters criticised Indian Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu during the protest. Khalistani supporter said, “This message is for the Indian Government and its Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu, who are the face of terror diplomacy in the free world. We want to remind them that you kill minorities, rape Christian women, and kill innocent Sikhs, Muslims, as well as people from Nagaland and then you come here and claim ‘we are the biggest democracy in the world’. This is completely unacceptable. It is time to end this hypocrisy.”
