A Muslim journalist arrested in Pakistan for insulting Deity Hanuman

Islamabad – Aslam Baloch, a journalist, was arrested by Sindh Police in Pakistan for insulting Hindu Deities. Dy Sarpanch Ramesh Kumar of Mirpur Khas Panchayat lodged a complaint with the Police in this context. The post, which Baloch shared on his Facebook page, shows the photoshoped face of former Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan on the face of Deity Hanuman.  Ramesh Kumar has mentioned in his complaint that it has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus, and it was an attempt to create a law and order problem between the two communities.

1. As per the news telecast by BBC, there is a law against blasphemy. The law is mostly used against the minority population in Pakistan, but now, this law has been applied against even Muslims in some cases.

2. Hindus showed their displeasure over social media against Baloch’s controversial post after which Pakistan’s Minority Affairs Minister Gian Chand Asrani looked into the matter and demanded the immediate arrest of Baloch stating that desecration of the objects of faith by anyone is an offence. It is an attempt to destroy the harmony among people.

3. In his tweet, Pakistan’s journalist Vengus said that it has become common thing in Pakistan to post objectionable pictures of Hindus Deities. He posted two pictures to prove his point. In one picture, a maulana’s face has been photoshoped on the face of Deity Hanuman while in the other picture, the face of Shri Mahakali Devi was replaced with the face of Maryam Nawaz, the leader of the ruling party.

Pakistan reporter apologises to Hindus

Aslam Baloch has apologised to Hindus after his arrest, for hurting Hindus’ religious sentiments. He stated that he had no intention of hurting the religious sentiments of anyone. He only shared a picture that was made by somebody. Further, he also said, he always attends programmes organised by Hindus.

Hindus’ religious sentiments are hurt through various media in India, but in most cases, no action is taken against the concerned persons. India needs to learn from this incident in Pakistan !
