- United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said the G20 countries are being urged to sign an agreement to limit climate change to 1.5 degrees Celsius. It is estimated that India’s rice production may decline by 10 to 30% if the temperature rises by 1 to 4 degrees Celsius, while maize production may decrease by 25 to 70% if the temperature rises by 1 to 4 degrees Celsius.
- According to a report by United Nations experts, 4.5 to 5 crore citizens of India’s coastal cities are at risk due to climate change. It includes Mumbai, Chennai, and Goa. These cities can go underwater. Sea level is rising due to climate change.
