BBC reporter suspended for criticising British Government’s asylum policies
Indian Sports Minister slams BBC
London (United Kingdom) – BBC’s Chief Sports Presenter Gary Lineker has been suspended after criticising the British Government’s immigration policy. Due to this, the BBC staff are unhappy and have refused to work. BBC had to cancel the special programme which was to be broadcast on 11th March.

1. Gary Lineker is a former captain of the England football team and the highest-paid Chief Presenter on the BBC football programme.
2. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak made a statement defending the Government’s immigration policies. Rishi Sunak had said a few days ago that he will present a Bill on immigration in the British Parliament. Many refugees risk their lives by crossing the English Channel by boat to seek asylum in Britain. The Government is determined to impose restrictions on those who arrive illegally.
3. Sunak expressed hope that the differences between Gary Lineker and the BBC will be resolved.
India’s Sports Minister criticises BBCCriticising the BBC’s unfair action, India’s Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said, “It is unfair that BBC, which makes lofty claims about press freedom and objectivity, suspends one of its Chief Presenters for his comments on social media. Those who indulge in malicious propaganda with concocted facts can obviously never be expected to stand up for journalistic independence on moral grounds”.
