A Muslim ruler gave land for building Shri Krishna Muth at Udupi : Vile claim of Congress leader
Mangaluru/Udupi (Karnataka) – Congress leader Mithun Rai said during the Nammura Masjid Noda Banni programme at the Noorani Mosque in Puttige village that a Muslim ruler had donated land for Udupi’s Shri Krishna Muth. His video went viral on social media. Later, BJP MLA Raghupathi Bhat and Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Swami of Pejawar Math refuted Rai’s claim. Mithun Rai was defeated in the last Parliamentary elections by BJP’s regional President Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Following a statement by a #Congress leader that a Muslim ruler donated land for Udupi’s Krishna Mutt, #BJP hit back strongly calling it a blatant lie. https://t.co/z5Ku8HPONi @santwana99 @Cloudnirad @KannadaPrabha

The land was given for Shri Krishna Muth by Raja Ramabhoj and not by any Muslim ! : Pejawar Swami
Pejawar Math’s Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Swami said that Raja Ramabhoj gave the land to Sri Krishna Muth and not some Muslim ruler. Mithun Rai has misrepresented facts. It is not right to make such a false, baseless statement.

A Hindu King donated land for Shri Krishna Muth : Raghupathi Bhat, BJP MLA
“No Muslim ruler has donated land to either Shri Krishna Muth or the Ananteshwar Mandir. There is a record of Raja Ramabhoj donating land to Ananteshwar Mandir. The same land was used for building Shri Krishna Muth. Moreover, it is said that the present Jamia Masjid was also built on the land of Jangmara Muth”, said Raghupathi Bhat, BJP MLA refuting Mithun Rai’s claim.
Statement was made to create communal harmony : Mithun Rai’s laughable response
Since his statement drew a lot of criticism, Mithun Rai said that he had spoken like this based on an article that had been published in a Daily newspaper in 2017. He said that the statement was made to highlight religious harmony that exists today and he had discussed the matter with the priests of Udupi Muth. (On what basis is Rai deciding that newspapers are correct in their reporting ? One newspaper had conducted an investigation and accused Rajiv Gandhi of his involvement in the Bofors scam – why did the Congress never accept this ? – Editor)
