America does an about-turn on its stand about the ‘BBC news’ documentary !
Washington (USA) – The Union Government has already banned the BBC news documentary about Prime Minister Modi and Gujarat riots. This has given rise to a debate in many parts of India. The US has done a turnaround on its opinion of the BBC documentary in just 2 days. ‘We have always promoted freedom of media and will continue to do so. We know the importance of freedom of media, freedom of expression, and human rights in a democracy. They are necessary for a strong democracy. We have been stressing about this worldwide including India.’ This is the statement of Ned Price Spokesperson of the President’s office.

This same Ned Price had spoken two days ago when asked about the documentary in a press conference. He said, ‘I do not know anything about it. I only know about the common policy which will strengthen the US-India relationship. We are worried about what is happening in India. And we raise the issue from time to time.’
