Verdicts of the Supreme Court will now be available in regional languages from 26th January

New Delhi –  A new service has been launched which will deliver the verdicts of the Supreme Court in regional languages. This service was made available on the 26th of January, Republic day. On January 25th before the proceedings began the Chief Justice informed the advocates that the Supreme Court will launch a free service of providing access to Supreme Court judgments in regional Indian languages as part of the Government’s ‘Electronic Supreme Court Reports’ (e-SCR) project. Over 34,000 decisions are presently available in the ‘e-SCR’ project. It also has the facility to search and find the exact required result. 1,091 judgments are currently available in regional languages. They were made available publicly on Republic day.

Results available in various languages are as follows – 21 in Oriya, 14 in Marathi, 4 in Assamese, 17 in Kannada, 29 in Malayalam, 3 in Nepali, 4 in Punjabi, 52 in Tamil, 28 in Telugu and 3 in Urdu. As part of the ‘e-SCR’ project, these judgments are available on the Supreme Court’s website, its mobile app and the ‘Judgment Portal’ of the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDC). This service is available free of cost to advocates across the country. This search facility has been made available for the convenience of the users.
