Muslim girl’s family members oppose her marriage to a Hindu youth in Dehradun (Uttarakhand)
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) – The family members of a Muslim girl alleged that she had been kidnapped when the Muslim girl tried to get married to a Hindu youth here in Dehradun. The girl told the judicial magistrate in Court that ‘she was an adult and was getting married as she desired to do so’. People from both the parties and Hindu organisations had gathered outside the Court and this made the situation tense. The Police arrived and they brought the situation to normal.
1. On 18th November the Muslim girl went to her Hindu lover’s house to live there. After her family complained to the Police that the girl was missing. The Police searched and found her at her lover’s house. At that time, she told them that she was an adult and she was living here willingly.
2. In this period they got married in a Temple. They had made an application to the Judicial Magistrate to recognise that marriage. The Court had asked them to present themselves in Court for this. At that time tension was created by the presence of the girl’s family. The next hearing of the Court will be on the 30th of December 2022. The Court has given orders to the Police to give protection to both of them.
