Dibrugarh (Assam) – In the early hours of 20th October, an unidentified person vandalised and set fire to a Deity Shiva’s temple near the Chabua crematorium. As soon as the Hindus learned about this, they became angry and protested asking the Police to take action. A large number of converted Christians are said to be living in this area. Legal Rights Observatory has tweeted a request to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Director-General of Police to take action against the accused.

The Dibrugarh Police tweeted today that the accused had been apprehended and confessed to his crimes. The psychiatry department is sending him for examination and treatment because he has a history of mental illness.
