LTTE’s attempt to establish a foothold in TN

Chennai – Sri Lankan Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) is trying to establish its foundation in Tamil Nadu. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has received information that they have set up illegal arms factories in many places in TN. LTTE is trying to target big politicians and businessmen for terror funding. Earlier, NIA raided some places based on the information received.

1. On 19th May, the Tamil Nadu Police arrested Navin Muthu and Sanjay Prakash from Sevapet in the Salem district. Police recovered 2 pistols, gunpowder, some weapons and explosives from the. Investigation revealed that they work for LTTE and the case was handed over to the NIA.
2. NIA’s investigation has revealed that the LTTE has shifted its operations to India after the financial crisis in Sri Lanka. Earlier the weapons were manufactured in Sri Lanka, but now they are manufactured in Tamil Nadu with the help of local people.
3. LTTE is training its members to survive in the jungle. During the raids, along with the material useful for survival in the forest, poison prepared from wild seeds was found. LTTE members always carry this poison with them. For any reason, if they get caught by Police or investigative agencies, they can eat the poison and die.
4. Books, photographs and objectionable literature written on LTTE chief Prabhakaran, who was killed in 2009, were found during the NIA raids. List of many big politicians and businessmen of Tamil Nadu was found. Some of the documents found showed that the leaders included in the list were on LTTE’s target list.
