Rejection of declaring a Pakistani terrorist as a ‘global terrorist’

China obstructs at UNSC once again !

New York (USA) – China has once again refused to declare a Pakistan terrorist as a global terrorist in the United Nations. A proposal was made to declare Laskar-e-Taiba (LeT) leader Shahid Mahmood a global terrorist. Earlier China had taken the same measure when the proposal was made to designate Abdul Rehman Makki, Abdul Rauf Azhar, Sajid Mir and Hafiz Sayed. This is the fourth time China has turned to this action.

Shahid Mahmood was declared a “specially designated global terrorist” by the US in 2016.  Mahmood has had a significant role in LeT’s overseas operations, like recruiting Muslim youth for LeT from Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh, Myanmar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Syria. He was also the Vice-President of Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation (FIF) from June 2015 to June 2016, an organisation that financed LeT.

Editorial Viewpoint

However, China itself is persecuting Muslims by keeping them in the camps to turn them away from Islam, as jihadi terrorists are emerging in the country.
