Supreme Court slams Ekta Kapoor on the ‘XXX’ web series !

New Delhi – You are polluting the minds of the young generation of this country. What kind of options you are giving to the viewers on OTT (Over the top platform – it is a streaming service that delivers content over the internet) In fact, you are polluting the minds of the young generation and something needs to be done about it, observed the Supreme Court to producer Ekta Kapoor. The ‘XXX’ series is being shown on Ekta Kapoor’s ‘ALTBalaji’ OTT platform. A complaint was registered against this serial for objectionable scenes about the wife of a soldier, which has hurt the sentiments of Indian soldiers and their families. An arrest warrant has also been issued against Ekta Kapoor, on which she went in for an appeal to Supreme Court. During its hearing, the Supreme Court reprimanded her.

1. Advocate Mukul Rohatgi representing Ekta Kapoor told the Court that a petition has been filed in Patna High Court in this connection, but it may not come up for hearing so soon. In a similar case, the Court had earlier extended protection to Kapoor. This web series is only for the subscribers and people in this country have the freedom to choose.

2. The Court stated on the advocate’s argument, “What kind of choices are given to people ? Such petitions can result in slapping fine on her. The petitioner cannot waste the time of the Court because she can afford to engage renowned advocates. We have read the order passed by the lower Court. You can appoint a local advocate and check the status of your petition.”

The Court should order action even against the concerned machinery that issues certificates of release to such series, besides imposing a ban on such serials so that others wouldn’t dare to produce such serials again and the concerned machinery wouldn’t dare to issue certificates for release of such serials !
