Hyderabad (Telangana) – Two burqa-clad Muslim women were arrested on 27th September for vandalising Shri Durgadevi’s Idol in Khairatabad. According to Rajesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, both of them are mentally unstable. The women were also accused of trying to break a statue of Mary outside a church earlier this year. In the year 2018, they returned to India from Jeddah. Since then, they have suffered from mental illness.

1. Asimuddin, the brother of these two women, said that his sisters have schizophrenia. This has never happened before, and I apologise. They are getting treatment at the hospital.
2. MLA of Nampally Constituency J H Meraj told the media that he has requested a thorough investigation from the Commissioner of Police. There was a person who tried to stop these women from vandalising the Idol. They are also accused of assaulting that individual.
