Tehran (Iran) – Five people were killed and more than 80 injured after Police opened fire on anti-hijab protesters in western Iran. This protest took place in the Kurdistan region. People in this region have been demanding a separate country for many years. 22-year-old Mahsa Amini was beaten to death by the Police for not wearing hijab. Following that, women have started protesting against hijab in Iran. Women are demanding that Hijab should be made optional and not mandatory.

Foreign media is banned in Iran. Despite this, reports of Police brutality are coming out from Kurdistan. Late in the evening of 19th September, clashes broke out between protesters and security forces in several cities in Kurdistan, including Mahabad, Diwandere, Sakej, Bukan.
