Ban the film ‘Thank God’; will not tolerate ridiculing of Hindu Deities : Hindu Janajagruti Samiti

Was the Censor Board sleeping till the trailer that ridicules Hindu Deities is made public?

“Recently, the trailer of Ajay Devgn’s film ‘Thank God’ was uploaded on YouTube. This film shows Deity Chitragupta (who keeps the accounts of merits and demerits of Hindus after death) and Deity Yama (who takes away the soul after death) in modern attire. Cheap jokes have been mouthed by these characters. We will never tolerate the ridiculing of Hindu Deities under the name of freedom of speech. Was Censor Board sleeping till this trailer was released ?” asked Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) through a Press note, and demanded that the Censor Board not give a certificate to this film. HJS has warned that its volunteers will take to the streets to oppose the film if it is released. HJS has also asked the Union Home Ministry to ban this film since it hurts the religious sentiments of Hindus.

“This film ridicules Hindu religious concepts as well as Deities, and thus, hurts the religious sentiments of Hindus. Only a few scenes and dialogues of this film have come out to the people through the trailer. In reality, there could be many more objectionable scenes and dialogues in the film”, said the Press note.

Earlier too, Hindu Dharma, Deities, Sages and Ascetics have been targeted in many films such as PK, O My God, Singham Returns, Tandav and through various web series. Jokes are made about Hindu customs as well as traditions, and hatred is created about them in the minds of the people. To stop all this, the Union Government must immediately make stringent laws. There should also be representatives of all religions on the Censor Board, who will ensure that the religious sentiments of people are not hurt. This demand was made by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.
