Ten lakh Rohingya Muslims in Bangladesh are a big burden : Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina
Sheikh Hasina hopes that India can help solve this problem
Dhaka (Bangladesh) – There are more than 10 lakh Rohingya Muslims in Bangladesh. We all know that it is a huge burden for us. India is a big country and can accommodate them. (Is India a hospice for Rohingyas ? – Editor) We are not talking only to India. Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina had stated that the international community and neighbouring countries should talk to them and make them take some steps to allow the Rohingya Muslims to return to their country. She made this statement ahead of her visit to India. She is coming to India on 5th September on a 4-day tour. She also said India could play a huge role in solving the Rohingya problem. (India should not get trapped by such statements. – Editor)
Sheikh Hasina said that they gave shelter to the Rohingyas on humanitarian grounds. Everything needed was provided. All Rohingyas got vaccinated during Corona. How long will they be there ? They are living in a camp. Some are involved in the criminal activities of drug trafficking, arms trafficking and women trafficking. The sooner they go to their country the better it is.

India is Bangladesh’s ‘tested friend’
(One who maintains friendship during difficult times is called a ‘tested friend’).
Sheikh Hasina referred to India as a ‘tested friend’ of Bangladesh. She said many of our students were stuck in Eastern Europe during the war between Russia and Ukraine. They were brought to India on the initiative of PM Narendra Modi. While the Indian Government was involved in rescuing Indian students, it did not leave our students in trouble. They also brought our students home. India sent several doses of vaccine to Bangladesh under the ‘Vaccine Friendship’ programme. This is also appreciated. She emphasised strengthening cooperation between neighbouring countries. She said there may be differences between India and Bangladesh, but they could be solved through discussion.
