‘S.C.E.R.T’ will be taught Gujarat riots and Mughal era chapters again

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) – The Kerala Government is likely to include again the syllabus on the 2002 Gujarat riots and the Mughal era in schools. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) omitted this section from the Class 12 textbook, reports The Hindu.

NCERT had made a rational change in the syllabus from class 6^th to 12^th. NCERT omitted a chapter of the Class 12 Political Science textbook ‘Recent Events in Indian politics’. It had references to the Gujarat riots, the National Human Rights Commission’s report on the riots, the then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s comment on ‘Raj Dharma’, as well as news and photographs of the riots from the newspaper. NCERT was criticised after it.

However, the Kerala State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), has recommended to the General Education Department that the chapter should be retained for the students of the State.

Editorial Viewpoint

Did the communist Government in Kerala, which informed the students about the Gujarat riots, ever inform them about the Godhra incident in which Hindus were burnt to death by Muslim fanatics before the riots ? This shows the extreme Hindu hatred of the Kerala Government. The Union Government should dissolve such State Government that propagates Hindu hatred.
