Indian High Commissioner’s Office in Canada urges concerned to remove the offensive poster of Mahakali immediately

Toronto (Canada) – A poster of Lina Manimekalai’s documentary ‘Kali’ has been published, showing an actress dressed as  Devi Shri Mahakali and smoking a cigarette. The poster has been housed in the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto since it was published at the Canada Film Festival. The Indian High Commissioner’s Office in Canada has asked Canadian officials and the organisers of the film festival to remove the poster from the Aga Khan Museum.


The Indian High Commissioner’s Office said, we have received many complaints that the poster has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. Hindu Deities have been insulted in the relevant poster. We have conveyed our feelings to the organisers of the event. We urge the Canadian authorities to immediately remove the offensive poster.
