USCIRF’s statements display its poor understanding about the Indian Constitution and democracy, India retorts
Anti-India statement by the US Commission for International Religious Freedom (USCIRF)
New Delhi – The Ministry of External Affairs of India has criticised the report of USCIRF in a sharp retort. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi responded to the Commission’s statement. He said, ‘We read the biased and inappropriate statements made by the US Commission for International Religious Freedom about India.

These statements reflect their poor understanding of India’s constitutional framework, its plurality, and democracy. Unfortunately, the Commission makes statements according to its own agenda and consistently misrepresents the facts’. The Commission had said that ‘there could be mass killings of minorities in India’.
