Discussion in the Hindu Rashtra Sansad on adopting the Hindu education system !
Hindu Rashtra Sansad unanimously passes a resolution to include India’s glorious history in textbooks !
Ramnathi, (Goa) – The Hindu Rashtra Sansad that convened in the 10th Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Rashtra Adhiveshan in Goa has unanimously passed a resolution calling for the inclusion of India’s glorious history in the textbooks. A majority of the members of Parliament demanded that the textbook should include biographies of Saints, nationalists, and revolutionaries who have shaped the history of India. On 16th June, the Hindu Rashtra Parliament convened on the issue of ‘How to adopt the Hindu education system in the present situation?’ The President of Vivekananda Karya Samiti (Panchkula, Haryana) Mr Neeraj Atri was the Chairperson, National Guide of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti Sadguru (Dr) Charudatta Pingale was the Deputy Chairman and Mr Shambhu Gaware of HJS oversaw the proceedings.
‘The current system is to set a curriculum that is conducive to the ideology of the central government. Today the term ‘saffronisation of education’ is being used to defame it. This has made it necessary to discuss the adoption of a Hindu Education Policy in the Education System, said Chairperson Mr Neeraj Atri while tabling the issue for discussion.
Points shared by the members
1. Mr Satyendra Dwivedi, Director, Rudraprayag Vidyamandir, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh – Teachers who are not teaching students honestly should be subject to punitive action. If 80% of the subjects taught by the teacher are not understood by the students, then the teacher should not be paid.
2. Mr Raju Srivastava, Uttar Pradesh – Saints should be involved in the Board of Education which decides the syllabus!
3. Mr Devidas Bhandari, Maharashtra – Schools must teach how to achieve concentration. Only if the highly educated have the following qualities of morality, humility, obedience, and are of good character, should their education be taken into consideration When appointing teachers, they should be evaluated based on the purity of their character.
4. Mr Umesh Sonar, Jalgaon, Maharashtra – The history of the atrocities committed by the Mughals against the Hindus should be taught in the school curriculum. This history of Hindu heroism, how Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj killed Afzal Khan and cut off the fingers of Shahistekhana, should be taught to the younger generation.
Proposal approved by Chairperson Neeraj Atri !
1. The purpose of teaching history is to learn from the mistakes of our forefathers and correct them.
2. Since a majority of students are Hindus, English festivals should not be celebrated in schools. Children of Government Officers and People’s Representatives should be educated in government schools.
3. Yoga education should be imparted in schools to improve concentration and holistic development. The teachings of Bhagavad Gita should be included in the textbook.
4. The true history of India should be taught. The history of Jewish persecution is taught in Germany. In the same vein, the history of the atrocities perpetrated on India by Islam and Christianity should be taught.
5. Education in Germany, France, and Israel is imparted in their respective national languages. It has brought positive benefits to the countries. Mother language education promotes the development of children, based on which India can be re-established as a world leader.
Dharma-based education system is needed to make India a world leader ! – Sadguru (Dr) Charudatta Pingale, Deputy Chairperson, Hindu Rashtra Sansad
We are born as human beings, we have to try and understand what the purpose of human birth is. Not understanding it creates internal turmoil in us. Anand (Bliss) is the goal of human life. The reasons behind joy and sorrow must be explained to the man. Students from the current education system fall prey to addictions. There is also a significant number of students who die by suicide. Education must include tenets of Dharma to impart self-confidence in life. Dharma and spirituality cannot be taught perfectly through the English medium. The concept of ‘Vasuvaidha Kutumbam’ exists in the Gurukul education system. A Dharma-based education system is the need of the hour if we want to ensure a bright future for India, and make India a Vishwaguru.
Other points presented by Deputy Chairperson Sadguru (Dr) Charudatta Pingale …
1. True education is education that empowers the mind to cope with events that happen against one’s wishes. Since today’s education system does not address the reasons underlying unhappiness in man, the youth are falling prey to various addictions and suicide. To stop the unrest in everyone’s minds, it is necessary to link the education system with Dharma.
2. Today’s young generation does not share things with others. The education system has become highly competitive. Competition creates hatred and jealousy in human beings. The concept of Hindu Rashtra teaches ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. Education reform is required to stall society from hurtling towards destruction and to make it universal.
Flaws in the education system presented by the Deputy Chairperson !
In educational institutions, the teacher is appointed based on the amount of funds received. If teachers are being recruited in this way, then how will it shape the character of the students? The teacher is appointed based on how the funds will be obtained. This raises questions about the character of those who are entrusted with inculcating values. While teaching the students, the concerned teacher must prepare the subject in advance. The current education system has no system in place to evaluate teachers. These are the flaws in the current education system, said Sadguru (Dr) Charudatta Pingale.
Having an Indian education system in India is not the saffronisation of education ! – Advocate Umesh Sharma, Member, Parliamentary Expert Committee, Hindu Rashtra Sansad
The education system in India should be Indian. Education should be in the mother language. Mother language education is readily accepted by students; But if it is in English, then the students resort to rote learning. Education is given in the mother language in Russia, France, Germany, and Italy. Israel has also introduced mother language education. Having an Indian education system in India is not a saffronisation of education.
If an uneducated chap from America lands in India and speaks in English, does he become wise ?
‘English is just a language, not a language of Knowledge. Speaking English does not mean one is knowledgeable/wise. We are obsessed with English. We should teach in our mother language. By teaching in English, we are distancing students from their mother language. If an uneducated chap from America lands in India and speaks in English, does he become wise? This question was raised by Umesh Sharma.
… what type of education system are we going to follow ? – Mr Durgesh Parulekar, Member, Parliamentary Expert Committee
Swami Vivekananda has said that the ‘education system should make a human out of one’. If the education system does not make humans out of us, the question is what does it make out of us? The inclusion of Indian culture is not the saffronisation of education. Therefore, the inclusion of a humanising Indian culture in the education system is not the saffronisation of education.
The Country’s Parliament should pass a resolution to teach Bhagavad Gita ! – Mr Ramesh Shinde
A member had proposed that it would be inappropriate to include the Bhagavad Gita in the curriculum since the Supreme Court had refused to entertain a plea to declare the Bhagavad Gita as the National Holy Text. Mr Ramesh Shinde, while rejecting the proposal, said that the Parliament reversed the Supreme Court’s decision to appease the Muslims in the Shahbano case. If the Hindu majority thinks it is necessary to obtain education from the Bhagavad Gita, then the Parliament of the country should pass such a resolution.
One of the members of the Opposition said, “Education should not be saffronized by teaching Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana, Mahabharata. Administrative officers and chartered accountants are all products of the current secular education system. Therefore, a different education system should not be accepted. While refuting this proposal, Mr Ramesh Shinde said that the current system teaches incorrect history like the Arya people are not Indians and the Mughals are natives of India. It is inappropriate to demand the NCERT education system which teaches things like ‘Bhagat Singh was a terrorist’, ‘Maharana Pratap was deposed’. We must not accept such an education system.
