All mosques older than 100 years old should be surveyed !

  • Petition filed in the Supreme Court by two advocates
  • Demand to close the tanks and wells inside the premises of Mosques

New Delhi – A demand has been filed with the Supreme Court through a petition that ll Mosques older than 100 years should be surveyed by the Archaeological or other Government departments. It will reveal the remains of Hindu, Sikh and Jain temples on those premises. . All the small ponds, wells & tanks in the mosques are to be examined and no one should be allowed to wash their hands and legs in that area before namaz and an alternate arrangement should be done till then. This petition was filed by Advocates Shubham Avasthi and Saptarshi Mishra.

This petition states that during earlier times when the Muslims invaded, Hindu, Sikh, Jain and Buddhist temples were razed and Mosques were built in their place. Even today, one can find the remains of the earlier structures in such places. For the sake of cooperation and goodwill from both sides, efforts have to be made to respect the remains of these temples and they have to be restored to their original glory because many such places have been found where the original temples have been destroyed by Muslim invaders and Mosques have been built there. Also if the Government continues such secret surveys, more such information may come out. These surveys have been to be kept a secret to avoid hurting religious sentiments and communal clashes. During this survey, if any religious symbols and items are found in the wells or ponds then such artefacts can be protected safely.
