Peshawar (Pakistan) – Two Sikh men were shot dead by unknown assailants in Peshawar city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in Pakistan. A source from the Police informed that in the shooting that was carried out, the assailants came on motorbikes and shot Saljit Singh and Ranjit Singh dead on the spot. Both the assailants escaped immediately after the shooting. The duo who were spice traders were sitting at their shops at Batta Tal Chowk in the Sarband area which is 17 km from Peshawar. The assailants opened fire on both the shopkeepers. As of now, no terrorist organisation has claimed responsibility for this attack.

Speaking on the incident, BJP Leader Manjinder Sirsa said that – Sikhs are being terrorised in Pakistan and they live in fear. Pakistan has been warned about such incidents many times, but there have been no concrete efforts in trying to reduce the indiscriminate killings of the Sikhs. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann also condemned this incident.

In a similar incident seven months earlier, a Sikh shopkeeper, Satwant Singh, was shot dead in Peshawar. To date, the Police have not taken any action in this regard.

Editorial viewpoint

The Khalistanis who silently ignore Pakistan’s shameful acts and make India look bad are now silent when the Sikhs in Pakistan are constantly persecuted ! From this, one can understand how much respect they have for the Sikhs !
