H.H. Sambhajirao Bhide Guruji’s name dropped from the Koregaon-Bhima violence case

Pune – During the investigation into the Koregaon-Bhima violence case, Shiv Pratishthan founder H.H. Sambhajirao Bhide Guruji’s name has been excluded from the crime due to a lack of any evidence of his involvement. Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Dr Abhinav Deshmukh informed Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission (MSHRC) that as there was no evidence against Bhide Guruji, his name is now dropped. It was in response to a complaint lodged by Aditya Mishra, an advocate working for the MSHRC, with the State Human Rights Commission, Mumbai, regarding the lack of progress in the investigation of the crime against H.H. Sambhajirao Bhide Guruji.

1. On 1^st January 2018, stone-pelting and arson took place near the Victory Pillar at Koregaon-Bhima during the Manavandana programme. In this case, crimes were registered under various sections against 40 persons, including H.H. Sambhajirao Bhide Guruji and Samasta Hindu Aghadi President Milind Ekbote.

2. Sudha Bharadwaj, Shoma Sen, Arun Ferreira and Vernon Gonsalves, Surendra Gadling, Sudhir Dhawale and P Varavara Rao were found to be involved in the case.

3. After the independence of the State and the formation of the Mahavikas Aghadi Government, NCP President Sharad Pawar blamed Milind Ekbote and H.H. Sambhajirao Bhide Guruji for orchestrating violence that spoiled the atmosphere there. A special inquiry committee was to be set up by the State Government in this regard. However, the case had already been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

4. In this case, H.H.Bhide Guruji told a press conference that he was not present at the scene and had nothing to do with it.
