The correct method of chanting as recorded by seekers studying music at MAV under the guidance of Paratpar Guru (Dr) Jayant Athavale

Any activity performed as per the prevailing times yields more benefits. MAV has researched the types of chants required in the present times considering the spiritual aspects, and recorded the chants of Shunya, Mahashunya and Nirgun. These chants have been recorded in the voice of Ms Tejal Patrikar of MAV under the guidance of Paratpar Guru (Dr) Jayant Athavale and they are now available on Sanatan Sanstha’s website and ‘Sanatan Chaitanyavani’ Android App.

1. Need for chants related to Nirgun (Unmanifest) : Shunya, Mahashunya and Nirgun are related to the Nirgun (Unmanifest) Principle. Their association with the Nirgun aspect is more. The highest chant of the Nirgun level is ‘Om’ and its audio is already there under ‘Beej-mantra’ category. Spiritual distress is on the rise as per the times. Sometimes, the Name-chants of Deities in Sagun or Nirgun form are not effective in alleviating spiritual distress; hence, one needs to use chants related to the Nirgun Principle – Shunya, Mahashunya, Nirgun and Om. Especially for those who have spiritual distress, these chants are more applicable. Sometimes, seekers are unable to chant due to severe spiritual distress. It becomes difficult for some to chant with bhav (Spiritual emotion) since they cannot visualise the form of the respective Deity while chanting the Nirgun Name. In both the cases, seekers can chant while listening to these.

2. Pace of the chanting : This is different for every person as per his / her basic nature. The chants available on the App are at a medium pace. Those who wish to the chant at a faster pace may do so without changing the style of the recorded chant. Try to maintain the pace of chanting that will help invoke more bhav and stick to that pace according to this fundamental principle of spiritual practice – There are as many Paths of spiritual practice as there are people.

3. Interval between two chants : While guiding on the interval between two consecutive chants, Paratpar Guru (Dr) Athavale said that it can vary as per the same principle as above; therefore, we can change the interval as per our need and convenience. In the recorded audio, the normal interval has been maintained. Sanatan Sanstha teaches how to go to the subtle dimension from the physical; hence, Sanatan’s seekers progress faster compared with that of other Sects.

Note : (What is spiritual distress : When an individual emits negative vibrations, it means he has spiritual distress. If the individual has more than 50% negative vibrations, it denotes ‘severe’ distress. If the negative vibrations are between 30 and 49%, it denotes ‘moderate’ distress; if the negative vibrations are less than 30%, it denotes ‘mild’ distress. Spiritual distress is caused by spiritual reasons such as destiny, distress due to departed ancestors, etc.)
