World Bank steps in to provide emergency assistance to Sri Lanka
Colombo / Washington – The World Bank has stepped in to provide emergency assistance to Sri Lanka, which is going through an economic crisis. The Colombo Gazette reports that the World Bank Vice-President Hartwig Schafer met with Sri Lankan Finance Minister Ali Sabry in Washington.

Schafer said that the World Bank is concerned and will provide essential medicines, other health items, food and educational facilities. Discussions were also held on taking necessary measures to deal with the economic crisis, as well as issues related to the financial protection of Sri Lankan citizens through stability.
