Turkey attacks Iraqi Kurdish rebels

Istanbul (Turkey) – Turkey has started attacking the Iraqi northern Provinces of Kurdistan. The Turkish Defence Minister has released a statement saying, ‘We are attacking Kurdish rebels using fighter jets, helicopters and drones. Their bases and ammunition depots are being targeted and attacked. Kurdish rebels have slowly gained a stronghold in northern Iraq and they are trying to attack us from those areas.’


The total Kurdish population is over 3.5 crore in countries like Iraq, Syria and Armenia. They need their own independent country. To achieve this goal, they are staging armed protests. Their organisation is known as ‘PKK’. This organisation has been declared a ‘terrorist organisation’ by the US and Europe.
