Bengaluru (Karnataka) – The BJP Karnataka Chief Minister BS Bommai presenting the State budget 2022-23 in the Legislative Assembly has proposed removing Government control over temples in the State. There are 35,000 such temples in the State.

Temples to be given the right to use the temple funds for their development
The Karnataka CM said, there is a long pending demand to do away with the Government’s control of the temples. By considering these demands of devotees, autonomy will be given to temples coming under the purview of the Endowment Department. Necessary legal action will be taken to delegate the discretion of developmental works to the temples.
‘Pavitra Yatra’ scheme to be launched for pilgrims going for Kashi pilgrimage
The Government will grant a subsidy of Rs 5,000 per person to 30,000 pilgrims undertaking the ‘Kaashi Yatra’ from Karnataka, according to the Chief Minister. The ‘Pavitra Yatra’ scheme will be launched by the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation to make pilgrimage tours more affordable (KSTDC).
100 crore sanctioned for the development of the birthplace of Shri Hanuman
Anjanadri mountain in the Kappol District of the State believed to be the birthplace of Shri Hanumanji will be developed. Rs 100 crore have been sanctioned for this.
Two thousand ethnic breed cows to be distributed to farmers
The Chief Minister proposed to launch ‘Punyakoti Dattu Yojane’ to encourage public and private institutions to adopt cows in the Goshalas (shelters for cows). Bommai continued that to conserve and increase the stock of indigenous cow breeds, 2,000 cows will be distributed to farmers through Karnataka Milk Federation.
