Bengaluru (Karnataka) – Education is a fundamental right, and no one should be deprived of it. The percentage of Muslim girls in schools and colleges was low earlier. In recent times, many have shown interest in education. The Sangh Parivar is conspiring to deny education to Muslim girls by not permitting hijab, alleged Karnataka Congress leader and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at a press conference here. Congress State President D. K. Shivkumar was also present at the press conference.
At a press meet, accompanied by Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar, Siddaramaiah said that wearing hijab was a personal choice of Muslim women.https://t.co/3OT8awPt83

Siddaramaiah further said,
- There are many practices based on the religious beliefs of Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists and Jains. It is their fundamental right, and no one should interfere in it.
- I condemn the role of all the organisations behind the Hijab Issue, be it the Sangh, the Social Democratic Party of India or the Bajrang Dal. All extremist organisations are a threat to peace and harmony.
- The students did not oppose the uniform. They are wearing hijab with the uniform and seeking permission for education. It is wrong to register a crime against the students.
