Farmers protest agitation on Delhi border suspended !

Farmers will vacate the Delhi border on 11th December

New Delhi – After agitating for 378 days, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha has announced the suspension of the farmers’ protest. This was declared after the meeting of the farmer union. The Morcha said that the farmers will vacate the Delhi border till 11th December. The farmers convened a meeting on 9th December afternoon after receiving the official letter from the Central Government about the fulfilment of their demands.

Then, the farmers declared to suspend the agitation. The farmers will not be celebrating this due to the funeral of Bipin Rawat and other soldiers, who died in the plane crash, instead will have a condolence meeting. Thereafter, the farmers will celebrate on 11th December and return home after that. The farmers’ leader Rakesh Tikait warned that even if the agitation has been suspended, we will once again raise the agitation if our demands are not fulfilled.

Even after the Government repealed the three farmers’ laws, new demands were placed before the Government by the farmers. These demands include the withdrawal of the charges on the farmers during the agitation, to give reimbursement to the families of the farmers who died during the agitation, not to charge for burning the crops, etc. The farmers had demanded a committee to discuss the minimum support price. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha will themselves choose the members of this committee.
