Private Members’ Bill introduced in Rajya Sabha to remove the terms ‘secularism’ and ‘socialism’
Dr Subramanian Swamy files a petition in the SC for the deletion of the terms ‘secularism’ and ‘socialism’ from the preamble to the Constitution
New Delhi – BJP leader KJ Alphons filed a Bill in the Rajya Sabha that seeks to remove the words ‘secularism’ and ‘socialism’ from the Preamble to the Constitution. These two terms were inserted in the Preamble by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi during the Emergency. Deputy Chairman Harivansh has reserved his decision with the reason that the Bill cannot be introduced without the permission of the President.
My WP is awaiting for hearing in SC: I have sought deletion of Secularism and Socialism since Parliament has no power to amend the Preamble. https://t.co/1BqMCZPaPW
