Mediation should be the first step to settle disputes : CJI N V Ramana

Hyderabad (Telangana) – Addressing the Curtain Raiser and Stakeholders’ Conclave of the International Arbitration and Mediation Centre, the Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana said a lot of problems can be solved with the help of mediation within a short time without approaching the Courts. Approaching Courts should be the last step to solve the problems. He also said that as far as possible women should mediate to resolve the disputes.

The CJI added, Mediation was mentioned in Mahabharat. Shrikrushna had also attempted mediation between Pandavas and Kauravas. He emphasised that the distribution of assets should be settled amicably by the family members.
