Chennai – The Madras High Court has ordered the Tamil Nadu State’s Kanchipuram District Collector to demolish an illegally constructed church on Government land in the next four weeks. It has also ordered an inquiry into the dereliction of duty against the Collector and the divisional Revenue Officer and disciplinary action to be taken against all the culprits in this regard.

The Court passed the order on a petition filed by M Murugesan.
Pastor forcibly built a church on the cemetery
After examining the documents and hearing arguments from both the parties, the Court found that Pastor C Sathrack as well as villagers and locals despite opposition from the authorities encroached on the Government land of the cemetery and constructed a church there.
