Maharshi Adhyatma Vishwavidyalay conducts novel spiritual research to Spiritualise daily life !

This article elaborates on the research conducted by the Maharshi Adhyatma Vishwavidyalay (MAV) on destiny, happiness and unhappiness and the effects of chanting on happiness and unhappiness.

From a tiny ant to the evolved human, regardless of race, culture or religion, he is perpetually in search of happiness. All of mankind craves for it. Yet, it is a pity that the subject of finding and retaining happiness is not taught in schools and colleges.

So far, medical science has looked mainly at the physical and psychological aspects of life in terms of wellbeing. However, the impact of the spiritual dimension on the quality of our lives has been largely overlooked. Given here are some insights from the 40-year spiritual research conducted by Paratpar Guru (Dr) Athavale (Founder of MAV) through subtle analysis with the help of modern equipment for the welfare of mankind.

1. The soul is the seat of Bliss (The superlative form of happiness, independent of the external situations)

As per medical science, the existence of humans is restricted to the physical body. However, as per Spirituality it extends beyond the physical, to the subtle-body and soul. Bliss is the very nature of the soul.

2. The mind experiences happiness or unhappiness

As per modern medicine, the limbic system (that part of the brain which controls emotions and behaviour) is responsible for happiness and unhappiness; however, as per Spirituality the role of the mind is most important. Let us study the following points in this context.

A. The mind is divided into two parts. What we generally refer to as the mind is the conscious mind. The other part is the subconscious mind.

B. The subconscious contains millions of impressions in the desires and instincts, likes and dislikes, temperament, give-and-take account etc. accumulated over current and previous lifetimes.

C. Individual destiny functions as per the give-and-take account centre in the subconscious mind.

So, from the above points we can emphatically say that to overcome unhappiness and to experience happiness it is absolutely essential to bring about a positive change in the mind.

3. Root causes of problems in life

Unhappiness is a result of problems in life. To be blissful, it is necessary to eliminate these problems. 20% problems are psychological and/or physical, 30% spiritual and psychological and/or physical, and the remaining 50% are purely spiritual in origin. Explained ahead are 3 main spiritual causes of unhappiness.

A. Destiny : 65% events in life occur due to destiny and 35% due to wilful action. Birth, death, marriage, relationships, major accidents, major illnesses and death, are all part of destiny.

B. Problems caused by souls of dissatisfied deceased ancestors : Inability to find a suitable match for marriage, unable to conceive, still-births, miscarriages, problems in several family members simultaneously, etc. are some examples of distress caused by souls of dissatisfied deceased ancestors.

C. Attacks of subtle negative energies : Subtle negative energies can trouble by creating problems at the physical, psychological and/or spiritual levels.

4. Efforts required to overcome unhappiness and experience happiness

It is necessary to find the root causes for eliminating unhappiness and problems in life. Since the basis of 80% problems is spiritual, we need to add spiritual remedies to treat a physical or psychological ailment. At the same time, the impression in the mind that is causing the unhappiness has to be eliminated using the following 3 remedies found out through spiritual research and suggested by MAV.

A. Chanting God’s Name : This is an excellent form of spiritual practice recommended by many Saints in today’s fast-paced life. If this is done daily, it will be a way of overcoming unhappiness and experiencing happiness.

A1. How does chanting purify the mind ?

1. It creates an impression of chanting in the subconscious mind and gradually reduces the effect of negative impressions.

2. It reduces the intensity of destiny and gives the strength to face severe destiny.

3. With time, it creates a protective spiritual sheath that insulates us from distressing vibrations.

A2. Which Name of God should we chant ?

A2 A. As per one’s religion of birth and that of the Family Deity for Hindus : Those who have not been initiated by a Guru should chant the Name of God as per their religion; while Hindus should chant the Name of their Kuladevata (Family Deity).

A2 B. However, through subtle-analysis in spiritual research and as per the need of time, we have found the chant ‘Om Namo Bhagawate Vasudevaya’ to be very effective.

A2 C. Chanting the Name of Deity Dattatreya : This relieves us from problems caused by dissatisfied ancestors souls by providing protection to us and momentum to their souls.

A2 D. Study of the benefits of chanting using modern scientific equipment : The MAV team conducted research with the help of a biofeedback machine known as the ‘GDV Bio-Well’ to measure the subtle positive effects of chanting. This machine gives the effect of chanting on the chakras in the body.

After following all the necessary precautions as advised in Bio-Well, biometric readings were recorded before and after 40 minutes of chanting ‘Om Namo Bhagawate Vasudevaya’. Alignment and size of chakras is an indicator of physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing.

Please see the Diagram below : After chanting for 40 minutes, the chakras were aligned and a positive change was noticed in their shape in the body of the individual (depicted in the Diagram).

B. Personality Defect Removal (PDR) process : This process has been pioneered by Paratpar Guru (Dr) Athavale after 25 years of research in Hypnotherapy to provide people with a structured way to remove impressions of personality defects in their minds.

The importance of this process is to reduce personality defects such as anger, irritability, jealousy, fear, etc., which lead to unhappiness. The lesser the personality defects, the more the happiness and peace we experience. Given ahead are the various steps in this process.

B1. Observation and self-awareness : Observing oneself objectively, accepting feedback from others and becoming aware of mistakes / shortcomings / personality defects through various situations and thoughts and noting them down.

Self-awareness is the first step in overcoming personality defects. As we practice this, we understand our personality defects and strengths. Jotting down incidents of mistakes helps in this process.

B2. Analysis of behaviour : Analysing the root personality defect responsible for the mistake and understanding the thought process underlying the actions and behaviour.

At what stage did one become aware of the mistake, before or after the mistake took place, or did someone else point out the mistake ? This helps in understanding the awareness one has about the mistake and how the personality defect manifests.

B3. Autosuggestion sessions : Taking Autosuggestions (AS) to train the mind to behave in an ideal / desirable manner. An Autosuggestion (AS) is a suggestion given to oneself to eliminate the personality defects. It is a specific positive suggestion repeated in daily sessions to counteract the negative impression in the mind so that the personality defect is eventually eliminated.

C. A survey conducted to study the effectiveness of the PDR process : In one survey, 50 seekers were asked to list the 3 main personality defects that were creating most stress and anxiety in their lives before starting the PDR process. They said that to minimise the intensity of personality defects by 50-80% the average time required by them after following the PDR process was 2.5 years.

73% seekers attributed the improvement in their relationships to the PDR process and 77% seekers revealed that there was improvement in work efficiency due to the PDR process. This percentage is significant since 90% of them were professionals.

D. Following a sattvik lifestyle : Every action and thought has the ability to increase positivity or negativity around us. As spiritual progress takes place we develop subtle sensitivity. As we start selecting a spiritually purer way of life through diet, dressing, entertainment, etc., we automatically start moving towards a blissful and peaceful life.

It is necessary to understand that fulfilment of desires does not lead to continuous happiness (or Bliss) cannot be bought, it is earned through lifelong dedicated efforts for self-improvement and through regular spiritual practice which has to be performed the entire lifetime.
